Journal Entry Lesson 2

1) What is NUCC’s (National  Uniform Claim Committee) purpose? Guidelines? Rules/Regulations?

NUCC’s purpose is to design and maintain the requests and reimbursement polices with insurance. I feel it’s best to have one standard as it easier for employees on both sides to have a clear picture of expectations and procedures. When everyone is on the same page and training is universal, allows transparency and consistency. The rules and regulations are the same across the board for all involved.

2) What is the format for most insurance cards?

Insurance cards most importantly have the ID# for each client/insured. The insurer’s company name is clearly listed. Along with the ID# is the Group#, this helps with knowing the employer that is covering the insured. Usually, there is a brief listing of some benefits, such as co-pays or coinsurance or % after deductible met. On the back there is the contact information (address and phone#) of the insurance company.
